Die Dürener Band "Chrom" hält nicht allzu viel von einschränkenden musikalischen Schubladen. So ist der Titel ihres Debütalbums "Electroscope" (wobei "scope" für Bandbreite oder Möglichkeiten steht) durchaus programmatisch zu verstehen, bastelt sich das Trio doch aus der großen stilistischen Bandbreite, welche die elektronische Populärmusik hergibt, einen so eingängigen wie Club-tauglichen Sound zusammen.

Stimmlich bewegen sich Chrom dabei äußerst effektiv auf dem schmalen Grat zwischen energischer Eindringlichkeit und warmer Melodik. Bassdruck, Wucht und Energie der EBM werden mit den luftigen, technoiden Elementen des Future Pop und den Breitwand-Melodien des Synth-Pop zu einem vielseitigen und kompakten Ohrwurmsound verknüpft, mit dem sie ihre ganz eigene Nische zwischen Bands wie VNV Nation und Solitary Experiments besetzen.

I have been following VNV and attending their concerts for years. They are an amazing band, so prolific, well travelled, classy, and down to earth. Ronan is such a humble, amazing fellow. I'll never forget his taking a person's cellphone so he could give the person on the other end in hospital a front row experience. But this track, their music, is so moving. Lyrics are so well thought out, and their sound so consistently emotive over the years. Can't say enough good about VNV. realbibliodude
